I will removing junk (scrap metal and car parts) and gravel in order to increase space for my vegetable garden. The soil will be most likely in horrible condition so I wanted to know some of the best methods to restore it. Some things I already plan do to are:

1) break up the soil
2) add bits of compost
3) plant legumes to add nitrogen

What else should I do, and what challenges should I expect?

I just noticed at my work how much of these things we use but in a small southern town not to many people care at all about recycling. How could i get a program started so people will recycle their aerosol cans rather than just dump them in the trash. I’m just an average citizen with limited funds and no city government connections so what could i do?

headboard and frame? Would you also go through your clothes and your children’s clothes and put the stuff you never wear out there and would you put the hundreds of toys your little ones have out there too?

Any garage sale tips?
I also have a play pen and a coffee table or two I should get rid of.

I realize I do need medication, but I am very hesitant about putting all those chemicals in my body, and I despise the pharmaceutical industry. I know there are lots of herbal remedies out there for helping with other ailments, but those are more physical then mental. Help?

I’m not saying I’m against renewable energy. I’m just wondering – what would everybody do with their car that runs on regular gas?

Plug-in hybrids will use batteries for city travel, and so they will seem to be cleaner vehicles than typical gasoline engines, but they will use power from the grid, which may be coal-fired, or oil-driven (or in some cases hydro, nuclear or other). So would they be better or worse for the environment than E85 hybrids (which can use 85% ethanol, but in many cases would use less)?

Note: I don’t drive; just looking for the lesser of two evils for the short-term future auto-dependent population!

"Scientists are to hold an emergency summit to warn the world’s politicians they are being too timid in their response to global warming.

Climate experts from across the world will gather in Copenhagen next month to agree a stark message to policy makers, which they hope will break the political deadlock on efforts to curb rising temperatures. The meeting follows "disturbing" studies that suggest global warming could strike harder and faster than expected.

Katherine Richardson, a marine biologist at the University of Copenhagen, who is organising next month’s event, said: "This is not a regular scientific conference. This is a deliberate attempt to influence policy."

Now for all you conspiracy theorists out there, scientists have nothing to gain monetarily from such a summit. They already have no trouble getting research grants to study climate change, and influencing political policy at this point does not benefit them in any way.

What are your thoughts on this emergency summit?

I was wondering what some good "green" (eco-friendly) stocks, or anything like that, to invest in. Also, why? Thank you in advanced.
